John Bird Studio :: Elaine Cooper
 |
ELAINE COOPER was born in Lancashire and whilst her love of
painting was kindled at primary school Elaine’s choice of career was
as a designer. Elaine Cooper made a name for herself honing her craft during
many happy years working for some of the top UK & American textile
companies. Ten years ago the company Elaine Cooper worked for closed its
doors and Elaine seized the opportunity to pursue her first love of
painting.
Now an established artist Elaine Cooper creates bold, vibrant images that
present snatches of real life. Her background in Design has given
her the exceptional command of colour and texture used to recreate
the all too human and often humorous images you see. The larger
than life immaculately dressed ladies in her paintings were inspired
by Pearl, Poppy and Pandora, names given to three ladies spotted
whilst holidaying on the French Riviera. These girls spent their time
gossiping, paddling and generally having fun. Elaine Cooper observed them
many times during the weeks she spent painting & sketching amongst
the narrow alleyways and butter coloured houses of the village. They
were a great source of entertainment. |
