John Bird Studio :: Keith Melling
 |
|
Keith Melling is one of England's leading landscape painters. Born in 1946, he has been drawing and painting for as long as he can remember. His first exhibition of 40 paintings was in 1966. Although making use of a wide variety of mediums and techniques, oil paint made by himself in the traditional way, is still a favourite. There is an ever increasing demand for his fine quality prints, published from paintings produced over the last 35 years. He is represented in collections throughout the world.
Fine Art Trade Guild Member since 1993. Three time finalist in the FATG awards - 1994, 2006 and 2007 |

A Dales Winter, Kettlewell
SKU: 061KM003
Artist Keith Melling.
Surrounded by fells, this typical Yorkshire Dales village perhaps gets more than its fair share of snow. Viewed here from the bridge over the River Wharfe, the low winter sun throws the cottages into greater relief and picks out detail on Great Whernside in the...

Across Derwentwater to Cat Bells
SKU: 061KM011
Looking towards Cat Bells from behind Friar's Crag, the idea of this Lake District painting was to play the blues against the golden autumn tints. Cat Bells is a shapely little fell and not too demanding, it is often walked by families with young children.

Askrigg, Wensleydale
SKU: 061KM006
This painting from the moor road looks over the rooftops of Askrigg across the dale to the lofty Addlebrough. Addlebrough is one of the lesser known fells in the Yorkshire Dales - yet from this angle appears quite spectacular.

Buttermere from Dalegarth
SKU: 061KM007
I had made many trips to Buttermere in the Lake District over the years without finding what I thought was a good composition. However on this occasion I couldn't believe my luck. The boat was actually there, and with Haystacks reflected in the still water and the whole framed by the fresh spring...

Grasmere from Dale End

In the very heart of the English Lake District, Grasmere is perhaps Laleland 's most picturesque lake. This picture was painted from above the west shore and looks towards the distinctive Helm Crag (left of the island).

Seven Trees
SKU: 061KM012
These trees are in the middle of a field near where I live. Curiously they form a straight line and probably were part of an old field boundary. I first sketched them in 1990, some years later making a small etching; from the etching I made this painting. So the picture has evolved, the sky becom...

Swaledale
SKU: 061KM004
Looking up the dale towards Gunnerside, the view point is by Birks House on the easterly moor road to Wensleydale. Swaledale is perhaps the most dramatic of the Yorkshire Dales because of its narrowness. The River Swale is one of the fastest flowing rivers in England.
